6.2L – Crank/No Start With Or Without Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTC) P0300, P0301-P0308, And/Or P0316 – 2017-2018 Ford F-Super Duty

NHTSA ID Number: 10144183

Manufacturer Communication Number: tsb18-2188

Summary

Some 2017-2018 F-Super Duty vehicles equipped with 6.2L gas engines built on or before 2-May-2018 may exhibit a crank/no start concern with or without DTCs P0300, P0301, P0302, P0303, P0304, P0305, P0306, P0307, P0308 and/or P0316. This concern may be due to spark plug fuel fouling during cold starts in temperatures below 50°F (10°C). The PCM software update improves cold weather fueling strategies. Note: E85 fuel usage can contribute to poor starts, drivability concerns or inability to start the engine. Refer to the Owner’s Manual for E85 fuel usage guidelines. Follow the Service Procedure steps to correct the condition.

6.7L – Chassis Cab – Crank/No Start, Incorrect Fuel Level And/Or Collapsed Fuel Tank For Vehicles In Dusty Conditions – 2017-2019 Ford F-Super Duty

NHTSA ID Number: 10174401

Manufacturer Communication Number: TSB-20-2105

Summary

Some 2017-2019 F-Super Duty chassis cab vehicles equipped with a 6.7L engine and an aft of axle fuel tank operating in dusty conditions may exhibit a crank/no start concern with the fuel level showing over 1/4 tank full or the fuel gauge only registers up to 1/2 tank after filling with fuel. For vehicles equipped with an auxiliary fuel delivery source, the customer may also experience the inability to deliver fuel using this equipment. This may be due to dirt being trapped around the dust cap on the front or rear rollover valve (ROV) preventing “make-up air” from entering the fuel tank. To correct the condition, follow the Service Procedure steps to replace the fuel tank and possibly also the fuel pump/sender unit.
