2015-2016 Various Ford Vehicles – SYNC Gen 1 With 4.2 Inch Display – Bluetooth Pairing And Connection Concerns – Built On Or Before 1/24/2016
Some 2015-2016 Edge/Focus/F-150/Mustang, or 2016 Explorer/Escape vehicles equipped with a 4.2 inch display and SYNC Software version v5.5-v5.8 that were built on or before 1/24/2016 may experience concerns with unable to pair or connect a Bluetooth device to SYNC.
In some cases a message stating -โInitializing BT. Please try again.โ may also be displayed when attempting to pair or connect a device.
If any of these concerns is present, update the Accessory Protocol Interface Module (APIM) to the latest level of SYNC software using Standard Programming found in Workshop Manual (WSM) Section 415-00.
If the vehicles SYNC software is at version 5.9 or higher this message does not apply.

Ford Module Programming (FMP) is a software application that allows subscribers to program electronic modules on Ford, Lincoln
and Mercury
vehicles. It can be used for:
- Reprogramming emission-related (OBDII) modules on some vehicles manufactured in 1995 and all vehicles manufactured from 1996 to the present
- Reprogramming or reconfiguring non-emission-related modules on many vehicles (UBP and MS-CAN not supported)
In addition, module initialization (PATS) functions such as Keycode Erase/Reprogram and PCM Parameter Reset can be done using this application.
