Summary

Some 2017-2018 F-Super Duty vehicles equipped with 6.2L gas engines built on or before 2-May-2018 may exhibit a crank/no start concern with or without DTCs P0300, P0301, P0302, P0303, P0304, P0305, P0306, P0307, P0308 and/or P0316. This concern may be due to spark plug fuel fouling during cold starts in temperatures below 50°F (10°C). The PCM software update improves cold weather fueling strategies. Note: E85 fuel usage can contribute to poor starts, drivability concerns or inability to start the engine. Refer to the Owner’s Manual for E85 fuel usage guidelines. Follow the Service Procedure steps to correct the condition.

Some 2015-2018 Edge and 2017-2019 Fusion/MKZ/Escape/MKC vehicles equipped with a 2.0L EcoBoost engine may exhibit a low coolant level, white exhaust smoke and/or a runs rough condition with or without an illuminated malfunction indicator lamp (MIL). Diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs) may include P0300, P0301-P0304, P0316, P0217, P1285 and/or P1299 stored in powertrain control module (PCM). This may be due to coolant intrusion into the cylinder. To correct the condition, follow the Service Procedure steps to replace the long block engine assembly.

Illuminated Malfunction Indicator Lamp (MIL) – DTC P0300 Through P0308 – 2015-2017 Ford Mustang

Some 2015-2017 Mustang vehicles equipped with a 5.0L engine may exhibit an illuminated MIL with diagnostic trouble code (DTC) P0300 through P0308 present. A noticeable misfire may or may not accompany these DTCs. If normal diagnostics do not lead to a root cause for this concern, remove the intake manifold from the vehicle and verify the intake manifold runner control (IMRC) plates move when the IMRC actuators are moved by hand. These plates are visible through the outlet ports of the intake manifold. If the IMRC plates do not move when the IMRC actuators are moved by hand, the intake manifold should be replaced. For claiming, use causal part 9424 and applicable labor operations in Section 9 of the Service Labor Time Standards (SLTS) Manual.
