  1. I have a 2015 Explorer with the same issue. Driver’s side armrest splitting at the molded seam. Should be recalled!!

  2. I have had 2 Ford Explorers with the exact same issue! The first was a 2013 and then a 2015 both split in the exact same spot. This needs to be made a recall as it is so obvious a defect wide spread!

  3. I have a 2013 Ford Explorer base model. I have the same problem my driver side armrest is splitting at the seam. This was my 1st American made after 40yrs of buying cars and my last. To many recalls on this model. Time to get that VW Atlas. Bye Bye Ford

  4. Ford will not cover unless it happens before 3 year/36k bumper to bumper warranty expires. I was hoping they would make a replacement armrest so you don’t have to purchase a whole new door panel, but they do not as of 10.1.2019. New door panel is around $650, plus installation of $100 to $200 more. I did buy black color super glue to temporarily fix it, but that did not last for very long.

Upholstery shop that my Ford dealer uses will not attempt to fix it, though I have heard that some shops will try to fix it.

  5. I have a 2015 Ford Explorer. The driver side armrest is split open on the molded seam. Is there a recall for this issue as I have been on many sites/forums that seem to express the same issue, or is Ford disregarding this issue as a customer problem?
