MALFUNCTION INDICATOR LAMP (MIL) ILLUMINATED – DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE (DTC) P2270 OR P2272 – BUILT ON OR BEFORE 12/31/2012

FORD:	2010-2011 Ranger 2010-2012 E-Series, Expedition, F-150, F-Super Duty
LINCOLN:	2010-2012 Navigator

This article supersedes TSB 12-7-9 to update the production fix date and Issue Statement.

ISSUE:

Some 2010 F-150 vehicles equipped with 4.6L and 5.4L engine, 2011-2012 F-150 vehicles equipped with 5.0L engine, 2010-2011 Ranger, 2010-2012 F-Super Duty vehicles equipped with a 5.4L, 6.2L, or 6.8L engine, 2010-2012 Expedition, Navigator and Econoline (excluding Ambulance Package) vehicles built on or before 12/31/2012 may exhibit diagnostic trouble code (DTC) P2270 or P2272.

ACTION:

Follow the Service Procedure steps to correct the condition

SERVICE PROCEDURE

Using the Ford Integrated Diagnostic System (IDS) scan tool or equivalent, retrieve all continuous memory DTC (CMDTC). Are DTC P2270 or P2272 present?
1. Yes – proceed to Step 2.
1. No – this article does not apply. Refer to the Powertrain Control/Emission Diagnosis (PC/ED) manual for normal diagnosis.

Replace only the affected catalyst monitor sensor as indicated by the DTC observed P2270 – Bank 1 or P2272 – Bank 2. Refer to Workshop Manual (WSM), Section 303-14.
