3.5L GASOLINE TURBO DIRECT INJECTED ENGINES (GTDI) MALFUNCTION INDICATOR LAMP (MIL) ILLUMINATED – DTC P012B AND/OR P012D

ISSUE:

Some 2013 F-150 vehicles equipped with a 3.5L GTDI engines may exhibit a MIL illuminated with diagnostic trouble code (DTC) P012B (turbocharger/supercharger inlet pressure sensor circuit range/performance) and/or P012D (turbocharger/supercharger inlet pressure sensor circuit high) stored in powertrain control module (PCM) memory.

 

ACTION:

Follow the Service Procedure steps to correct the condition.

 

SERVICE PROCEDURE

1. Using the Ford Integrated Diagnostic System (IDS) service tool or equivalent Scan Tool, check all continuous memory diagnostic trouble codes (CMDTCS). Is DTC P012B and/or P012D stored in PCM memory?
   1. No – this article does not apply. Refer to the Powertrain Control/Emissions Diagnosis (PC/ED) manual for normal diagnostics.
   2. Yes – replace turbocharger intake pressure and temperature (TCIPT) sensor and connector C1667. Refer to Workshop Manual (WSM), Section 303-014 and Wiring Diagram Section 5-1. (Figure 1)

140082A	2013 F-150 3.5L GTDI: Retrieve DTCs, Replace The TCIPT Sensor And Electrical Connector. Includes Time To Clear DTCs (Do Not Use With Any Other Labor Operations)	0.7 Hr.

Eligible Under Provisions Of New Vehicle Limited Warranty Coverage And Emissions Warranty Coverage.
Warranty/ESP coverage limits/policies/prior approvals are not altered by a TSB. Warranty/ESP coverage limits are determined by the identified causal part and verified using the OASIS part coverage tool.
