Illuminated MIL with Various Drivability Issues – 2014-2016 Ford Transit Connect

	2.5L – ILLUMINATED MALFUNCTION INDICATOR LAMP (MIL) – MULTIPLE DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODES (DTCS)

ISSUE:

Some 2014-2016 Transit Connect vehicles equipped with the 2.5L engine may exhibit a constant or intermittent illuminated MIL with various drivability issues and one or more of the following DTCs: P0010, P0103, P0104, P0122, P0131, P0135, P0137, P0141, P0201-P0204, P0217, P0222, P0223, P025A, P0300, P0301-P0304, P0316, P0351-P0354, P0400, P0403, P0443, P1285, P1289, P128A, P1299, P2101, P2107, P2111, P2112, P2122, P2127 and/or U0109.

 

ACTION:

Follow the Service Procedure steps to correct the condition.

SERVICE PROCEDURE

1. Connect the Ford Integrated Diagnostic System (IDS) service tool or equivalent scan tool to the data link connector (DLC). Check for DTCs. Is P0010, P0103, P0104, P0122, P0131, P0135, P0137, P0141, P0201-P0204, P0217, P0222, P0223, P025A, P0300, P0301-P0304, P0316, P0351-P0354, P0400, P0403, P0443, P1285, P1289, P128A, P1299, P2101, P2107, P2111, P2112, P2122, P2127 and/or U0109 stored in the powertrain control module (PCM) memory?
   1. Yes – proceed to Step 2.
   2. No – this article does not apply. Refer to the Powertrain Control/Emissions Diagnosis (PC/ED) manual for normal diagnostics.
2. Visually inspect the 12A581 engine harness, 25-30 cm (10-12”) below the PCM connector, for wire chafing on the transmission. Is the harness touching the transmission and is wire chafing present? (Figures 1 and 2)

   1. Yes – proceed to Step 3.
   2. No – this article does not apply. Refer to the Powertrain Control/Emissions Diagnosis (PC/ED) manual for normal diagnostics.
3. Repair wire chafe. Refer to the Wiring Diagram, Cell 5.
4. Position the harness away from any sharp edges on the transmission. Use a zip tie to secure. (Figure 3)
