SERVICE PROCEDURE

  1. Using the FordeBay Integrated Diagnostic Service (IDS) or equivalent Scan Tool, perform a network test. Do the front seat climate control module (SCME) and front display interface module (FDIM) pass a network test?
    1. Yes – proceed to Step 2.
    2. No – this article does not apply. Refer to Workshop Manual (WSM), Section 501-10.
  2. Perform a self-test of the SCME. Are any diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs) present?
    1. Yes – this article does not apply. Refer to WSM, Section 501-10.
    2. No – proceed to Step 3.
  3. Is the vehicle built on or before 1/21/2015?

  5. Make sure the IDS service tool has been updated to IDS release 94.03 or higher. Select Module Programming within the toolbox menu.
    1. Under Module Programming, select the Programmable Parameters menu.
      1. Do not attempt to use the As-Built function within the IDS programming menu. The configuration will fail to load completely due to the high number of modules found in the MKC.
    2. Black Label vehicles are identified by body type codes J1B or J3B in the 5th, 6th and 7th positions of the vehicle identification number (VIN).

      1. Enter the Programmable Parameters menu and select Climate Control Seats.

      2. Under Climate Control Seats, individually select each parameter on the left side, then click the appropriate vehicle level on the right for each selection. Click the blue check when completed. The asterisk should now move to the correct vehicle level at right, and each item at left should have the correct description according to the application selected. Once all three have been selected as shown in the chart below, click the blue check and follow on-screen prompts to completion. Proceed to Step 6.
