Service Procedure
1. Inspect the intermediate shaft seal for leakage. Is the intermediate shaft seal leaking? (Figure 1)
(1). Yes – replace the intermediate shaft seal. Refer to Workshop Manual (WSM), Section 308-07. It is not necessary to remove the power transfer unit (PTU) to replace the seal.
(2). No – this article does not apply. Refer to WSM, Section 308-07 for normal diagnostics.
