2016 Multiple Vehicle Lines-6.8L 3v-Illuminated Malfunction Indicator Lamp (MIL)-Random Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTC) P0301 Through P0310

Some 2016 F-650, F-750, F-53 and F-59 Chassis Cab vehicles built on or before 31-Jul-2016 and 2016 F-450/F-550 vehicles equipped with a 6.8L 3V engine may exhibit an illuminated Malfunction Indicator Lamp (MIL) with any combination of Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTC) P0301, P0302, P0303, P0304, P0305, P0306, P0307, P0308, P0309, P0310 stored in the powertrain control module (PCM).

This may be caused by compression leakage at the cylinder head valve seats.

Perform a dry and wet compression test (reference section 303-00 of the workshop manual (WSM)) to verify any valve seat leakage.

If any valve seats indicate leakage, replace both cylinder heads. (Reference section 303-01 of the WSM).
