ISSUE:
Some 2015 F-150 vehicles equipped with an electronic park brake (EPB) and built on or before 2/21/2015 may exhibit a parking brake malfunction message displayed in the message center, a yellow park brake indicator illuminated and the red brake warning indicator flashing when activating the park brake with diagnostic trouble code (DTC) U3000:49 stored in the EPB module.
ACTION:
Follow the Service Procedure steps to correct the condition.
SERVICE PROCEDURE
- Connect the Ford
Integrated Diagnostic System (IDS) service tool or equivalent scan tool to the data link connector (DLC). Is DTC U3000:49 stored in the EPB module with any other DTCs?
- Yes – the module has more than one DTC code. Diagnose all other DTCs prior to performing this procedure. Refer to the Workshop Manual (WSM), Section 206-05 for normal diagnosis.
- No – proceed to step 2.
- Is DTC U3000:49 stored in the EPB Module?
- Yes – replace the EPB module. Refer to Workshop Manual (WSM), Section 206-05.
- No – this article does not apply. Refer to WSM, Section 206-05 for normal diagnosis.

vehicles.
Ford Module Programming (FMP) is a software application that allows subscribers to program electronic modules on Ford, Lincoln
and Mercury
vehicles. It can be used for:
- Reprogramming emission-related (OBDII) modules on some vehicles manufactured in 1995 and all vehicles manufactured from 1996 to the present
- Reprogramming or reconfiguring non-emission-related modules on many vehicles (UBP and MS-CAN not supported)
In addition, module initialization (PATS) functions such as Keycode Erase/Reprogram and PCM Parameter Reset can be done using this application.
