Some 2008-2012 Escape/Mariner vehicles can exhibit DTC B2278 stored in the PSCM. When this DTC is present the torque sensor must be replaced.
Torque sensor part number CL8Z-3F818-A is a serviceable component and the steering column assembly does not require replacement.
The Workshop Manual has been updated to include the revised diagnostic path for DTC B2278 and the torque sensor removal and installation procedure.
