ISSUE:

Some 2013 F-Super Duty F-650 vehicles equipped with a 6.8L engine and built on 5/1/2013 and through 12/4/2013, 2015 F-Super Duty F-650 vehicles equipped with a 6.8L engine and built on 3/1/2014 and through 4/30/2014 may exhibit an intermittent crank no-start condition with diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs) P0245A, P0245B, P0627 and/or U0109, or in some cases no DTCs. This condition may be caused by a terminal fit issue with one or more of the terminals in the body harness connector resulting in an intermittent electrical connection to the fuel pump control module (FPCM).

ACTION:

Follow the Service Procedure steps to correct the condition.

SERVICE PROCEDURE

  1. Using Integrated Diagnostic System (IDS), select Data Logger, powertrain control module (PCM) and utilize active command mode to command fuel pump (FP PID) on. Perform a wiggle test on the FPCM wire circuits in connector C3805 while listening for audible changes in the fuel pump sound indicating an intermittent loss of power to the fuel pump. Are any concerns observed with fuel pump operation?
    1. No – this article does not apply. Refer to Powertrain Control/Emissions Diagnosis (PC/ED) manual for normal diagnosis.
    1. Yes – proceed to Step 2.
  1. Replace the wire harness connector C3805 using the service pigtail.
    1. Make sure any unused service pigtail wire ends are sealed with heat shrink tube. Proceed to Step 3.
  1. Inspect the male terminals in the FPCM for any signs of damage. If any terminals show signs of damage replace the FPCM with the latest level service part.
