Summary
Some 2020 Transit vehicles equipped with a 10R80 automatic transmission and under 8,000 Km (5,000 mi) may exhibit a harsh engagement into DRIVE and/or REVERSE with or without an illuminated malfunction indicator lamp (MIL). This may be due to sticking main control valves. A new Ford Diagnosis and Repair System (FDRS) Transmission Accelerated Main Control Break-In routine has been developed to aid in freeing up sticking main control valves. This routine has been added to the Workshop Manual (WSM), Section 307-01.
