REAR CLIMATE CONTROL PERFORMANCE – BLOWS WARM – BUILT ON OR BEFORE 2/14/2014

 

FORD: 2014 Transit Connect

 

2014 Transit Connect vehicles equipped with rear climate control and built on or before 2/14/2014 may exhibit poor air conditioning performance.

 

C3449 (rear thermostatic expansion valve) and C3444 (rear evaporator temperature sensor) are identical and approximately 2.5 cm (1 inch) from each other.

C3444 may be connected to the rear thermostatic expansion valve and C3449 may be connected to the rear evaporator temperature sensor.

 

SERVICE PROCEDURE

  1. Remove the A/C auxiliary assembly cover to gain access to C3449 (rear thermostatic expansion valve) and C3444 (rear evaporator temperature sensor). Refer to Workshop Manual (WSM).
    1. It is not necessary to evacuate and recharge the A/C system.
  1. Are both connectors C3444 and C3449 gray in color?
    1. Yes – proceed to Step 3.
    1. No – this procedure does not apply if one connector is green and one is gray.
  1. Is C3444 with VT-BN and GN wires connected to the rear evaporator temperature sensor wiring and C3449 with WH-VT and YE-GN wires connected to the rear thermostatic expansion valve wiring?
    1. Yes – this procedure does not apply.
    1. No – swap the connectors so that they are connected to the proper components.
