Some vehicles equipped with a 4.6L 2V engine built before May 17, 2002, may exhibit an oil leak coming from the camshaft/valve cover area, where the positive crankcase ventilation (PCV) valve mounts.
This leak may be caused by the stack up tolerance between the PCV valve and tube assembly.
ACTION:
Install hose clamp onto the PCV tube assembly at the PCV valve.
SERVICE PROCEDURE
- Verify that oil is present on the cam cover area.
- If oil is present, remove the Air cleaner outlet tube.
- Disconnect the tube from the PCV valve.
- Install hose clamp (376240-S100) onto tube assembly, with the worm gear down ( Figure 1 ).
Figure 1
- Re-install tube assembly onto the PCV valve.
- Tighten the hose clamp to 12-20 Lb-in (1.3-2.3 N-m).
- Re-install air cleaner outlet tube.
- Clean excess oil from the cam cover area.
- Check to make sure the engine has the proper oil level.
