FORD: 2010-2012 Transit Connect

 

ISSUE:

Some 2010-2012 Transit Connect vehicles equipped with a 2.0L engine and built on or before 8/1/2011 may exhibit an oil leak at the oil filter seal and or the oil filter housing may be distorted.

 

ACTION:

Follow the Service Procedure steps to correct the condition.

 

SERVICE PROCEDURE

  1. Check the engine oil pressure, refer to Workshop Manual (WSM) Section 303-00. Is oil pressure higher than the specification listed in the WSM, Section 303-01?
    1. Yes – Proceed to Step 2.
    2. No – This procedure does not apply. Refer to WSM, Section 303-00 for normal diagnostics.
  2. Remove the valve cover, refer to WSM, Section 303-0. Check the oil drain back passages for sludge. Is sludge present?
    1. Yes – This procedure does not apply.
    2. No – Proceed to Step 3.
  3. Replace the oil pump and oil cooler with revised parts, refer to WSM, Section 303-01.
  4. Install valve cover, refer to WSM, Section 303-01.
