FORD: 2012 F-150

 

ISSUE:

Some 2012 F-150 vehicles built on or before 3/29/2012 and equipped with reverse camera display in the rear view mirror may exhibit the manual zoom and/or auto zoom feature incorrectly displaying as a selectable feature in the instrument panel cluster (IPC) message center.

 

ACTION:

Follow the Service Procedure to correct the condition.

 

SERVICE PROCEDURE

  1. Check if the manual zoom feature is enabled in the message center and/or if there is an auto zoom feature incorrectly displayed in the IPC message center.
  2. Check for diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs) in the reverse camera system.
  3. Is the zoom feature enabled and/or is there an auto zoom feature incorrectly displayed in the IPC message center with DTCs?
    1. Yes – proceed to Step 4.
    2. No – this article does not apply.
  4. Using the IDS reinstall the as-built data for the IPC.
    1. ID the vehicle.
    2. Select the tool box at the vehicle screen.
    3. Select Module Programming.
    4. Select As-Built.
    5. Select Instrument Panel Cluster.
    6. Select VIN verification (Note: This may or may not display).
    7. Screen prompt: if you were here directed by Programmable Module Installation or Module Reprogramming, select No and continue.
    8. Is IDS connected to internet?
      1. Yes – select Automatic and follow screen prompts.
      2. No – select Manual and proceed to Step i.
    9. Go to Professional Technician Society web site to obtain As-Built data, follow screen prompts to manually add as-built data.
    10. When As-Built downloaded is displayed, select tick mark to exit.The auto zoom option in the ICP message center will no longer be available after as-built reconfiguration, as this function was unavailable for the F-150.

Service Information & Reprogramming

Software necessary to program electronic modules to the latest calibration level, perform module initialization (PATS), and set Programmable Parameters on Ford, Lincoln and Mercury vehicles.

Ford Module Programming (FMP) is a software application that allows subscribers to program electronic modules on Ford, Lincoln and Mercury vehicles. It can be used for:

  • Reprogramming emission-related (OBDII) modules on some vehicles manufactured in 1995 and all vehicles manufactured from 1996 to the present
  • Reprogramming or reconfiguring non-emission-related modules on many vehicles (UBP and MS-CAN not supported)

In addition, module initialization (PATS) functions such as Keycode Erase/Reprogram and PCM Parameter Reset can be done using this application.
