Various 2016-2017 Ford and Lincoln Vehicles Equipped with SYNC 3 – Low Voltage Differential Signaling (LVDS) Cable – Service Tips

Some 2016-2017 Ford and Lincoln vehicles equipped with SYNC 3 may exhibit a FDIM that is inoperative or does not operate correctly symptom that may require a test of the LVDS cable as described in Workshop Manual (WSM) Section 415-00.

When testing the LVDS cable use only the male 0.5mm Rotunda flex probe (300-08057) or equivalent.

Use of any other test probes could damage or spread the LVDS female micro terminals resulting in degraded electrical performance and potential FDIM issues.

The blue and tan connectors at both ends of the LVDS cable should be fully seated and locked onto their mating connectors.

The WSM is in the process of being updated with the Rotunda flex probe information.
