MIL On With DTC P0300 P0316 - 2015 Ford F-53 Motorhome Chassis, F-59 Commercial Chassis

6.8L – MIL ON WITH DTC P0300 AND/OR P0316 – BUILT ON 8/18/2014 AND THROUGH 10/6/2014

ISSUE:

Some 2015 F-53 Motorhome Chassis and F-59 Commercial Stripped Chassis vehicles equipped with a 6.8L engine and built on 8/18/2014 and through 10/6/2014 may exhibit an illuminated or flashing malfunction indicator lamp (MIL) with diagnostic trouble code (DTC) P0300 and/or P0316 present in the powertrain control module (PCM) with no other driveability symptoms.

The front end accessory drive (FEAD) belt may contribute to false misfires.

ACTION:

Follow the Service Procedure steps to correct the condition.

SERVICE PROCEDURE

Replace the FEAD belt. Refer to Workshop Manual (WSM), Section 303-05.
Connect the Ford Integrated Diagnostic System (IDS) service tool or equivalent scan tool, to the data link connector (DLC).
1. Perform Misfire Monitor Neutral Profile Correction from the IDS toolbox. Select Powertrain, Service Functions, then Misfire Monitor Neutral Profile Correction and follow the on screen prompts.
2. Clear DTCs from PCM memory.
