FMVSS 1 : 110 – Tire selection and rims Part 573 Safety Recall Report 23V-379 Page 3 The information contained in this report was submitted pursuant to 49 CFR §573 FMVSS 2 : NR Description of the Safety Risk : A vehicle which is loaded beyond its load carrying capacity may have an increased risk of a crash. Description of the Cause : For affected Bronco and Super Duty vehicles, the payload was calculated using the nominal base curb weight value and there was not enough margin to account for vehicle-to-vehicle weight variability that can occur in the manufacturing process. For affected Ranger vehicles, mod-center/dealer installed option values were entered incorrectly into information systems used to calculate VIN specific mass property values. Owners will have the option to take their vehicle to a Ford or Lincoln dealer to have the new label installed. Ford provided the general reimbursement plan for the cost of remedies paid for by vehicle owners prior to notification of a safety recall in May 2021. The ending date for reimbursement eligibility is estimated to be July 21, 2023. Ford will forward a copy of the notification letters to dealers to the agency when available. How Remedy Component Differs from Recalled Component : The new Tire & Loading Information Label will have a restated payload value.
