TSB 14-0101WHIRRING/BUZZ OR SAW-TYPE ENGINE NOISE AT 950-1200 RPM AFTER COLD START – FROM TIMING BELT COVER

This article supersedes TSB 14-0025 to update the Service Procedure and Part List.

 

ISSUE:

Some 2012-2014 Fiesta vehicles equipped with a 1.6L Twin Independent Variable Cam Timing (Ti-VCT) may exhibit a whirring, buzz or saw-type noise from the engine after a cold start between 950-1200 RPM from the timing belt cover.

 

ACTION:

Follow the Service Procedure Steps to correct the condition.

 

SERVICE PROCEDURE

  1. Replace the Timing Belt and Timing Belt Covers. Refer to Workshop Manual (WSM), Section 303-01.
    1. Vehicles built on or before 5/15/2012 are equipped with a three (3) piece timing belt cover. The new two (2) piece timing cover replaces these three (3) piece applications.
