Summary
Some 2019 Edge/Nautilus vehicles equipped with a 2.0L EcoBoost engine built on or before 22-Aug-2019 may exhibit an illuminated malfunction indicator lamp (MIL) with diagnostic trouble code (DTC) P04DB stored in the powertrain control module (PCM). This may be due to various strategies within the PCM software. To correct the condition, follow the Service Procedure steps to replace the crankcase ventilation tube assembly and reprogram the PCM.

Issue: Some 2019 Edge/Nautilus vehicles equipped with a 2.0L EcoBoost engine built on or before 22-Aug-2019 may exhibit an illuminated malfunction indicator lamp (MIL) with diagnostic trouble code (DTC) P04DB stored in the powertrain control module (PCM). This may be due to various strategies within the PCM software. To correct the condition, follow the Service Procedure steps to replace the crankcase ventilation tube assembly and reprogram the PCM.
Action: Follow the Service Procedure steps to correct the condition on vehicles that meet all of the following criteria:
- 2019 Edge/Nautilus
- Built on or before 22-Aug-2019
- 2.0L EcoBoost engine
- Illuminated MIL with only DTC P04DB
NOTE: Part quantity refers to the number of that service part number required, which may be different than the number of individual pieces. Service part numbers contain 1 piece unless otherwise stated. “As Needed” indicates the part is required but the number may vary or is not a whole number; parts can be billed out as non-whole numbers, including less than 1.

Service Procedure
1. Remove and discard the crankcase ventilation tube assembly. Refer to Workshop Manual (WSM), Section 303-08A.
2. Cut the crankcase pressure (CKCP) sensor electrical wires approximately 2.5 cm (1 in.) away from the CKCP sensor and discard the hard shell from the harness side.
3. Apply heat shrink tube to the ends of the 3 harness side wires to cap the wires.
4. Tape the harness wires back to the harness.
5. Install the new crankcase ventilation tube assembly using the permanent connection tabs. Refer to WSM, Section 303-08A.
6. Reprogram the PCM using the latest version of the appropriate Ford diagnostic scan tool.
NOTE: Advise the customer that this vehicle is equipped with an adaptive transmission shift strategy which allows the vehicle’s computer to learn the transmission’s unique parameters and improve shift quality. When the adaptive strategy is reset, the computer will begin a relearning process. This relearning process may result in firmer than normal upshifts and downshifts for several days.
