LIFTGATE – INTERMITTENT OPERATION |

2013 MKT vehicles may exhibit a concern with the power liftgate opening intermittently without engagement of the key fob or liftgate buttons with the shift selector lever in the park (P) position.
SERVICE PROCEDURE
- Remove the liftgate trim panel.
- Disconnect connector C4339. Refer to Wiring Diagram manual.
- Remove the rear bumper cover.
- Disconnect connector C4353. Refer to Wiring Diagram manual.
- Inspect connectors C4339 and C4353 for evidence of water intrusion and/or corrosion. Is evidence of water or corrosion present?
- No – proceed to Step 4.
- Yes – proceed to Step 6.
- Fill connector C4339 3/4 full with Motorcraft Electrical Grease. (Figure 1)

- Cover C4353 terminal top with Motorcraft Electrical Grease. (Figure 2) Proceed to Step 9.

- Replace the body side connector C4339 using the jumper harness and the solder splicing method.
- Fill connector 3/4 full with Motorcraft Electrical Grease. (Figure 1)
- Replace connector C4353 using the jumper harness and the solder splicing method.
- Cover the terminal top with Motorcraft Electrical Grease. (Figure 2)
- Replace tailgate switch assembly.
- Reinstall liftgate trim panel.
- Reinstall the rear bumper cover.
