2017 F-Super Duty – Smoke From Instrument Panel – Damaged Audio Unit Ground Circuit Insulation And/Or Audio Antenna Cable Due To Upfitter Installation

Some 2017 F-Super Duty vehicles that have been upfitted with aftermarket battery connections to the primary and/or secondary battery terminals may exhibit smoke from instrument panel due to a damaged audio unit ground circuit insulation and/or audio unit antenna cable.

This may be caused by intermittent contact of the battery positive terminal to the vehicle hood by the aftermarket upfitter battery connections.

If found, reference special vehicle engineering (SVE) bulletin Q-277 located on the body builder advisory service (BBAS) website, using the link at the bottom of https://www.fleet.ford.com.

Disconnect all upfitted battery connections and contact the upfitter regarding proper placement and isolation of battery connections per the SVE bulletin guidance.

Repairs required as a result of upfitter modifications are non-warrantable.
