2017 Continental/F-Series Super Duty Pickups – Adaptive Front Steering (AFS) – IDS Service Routine Does Not Complete

Some 2017 Continental and F-Super Duty pickup vehicles equipped with AFS may exhibit a failure to complete the Integrated Diagnostic System (IDS) AFS service routine.

These vehicles are equipped with a steering wheel delayed locking feature which may prevent the service routine from working correctly.

To perform the AFS service routine, open and then close the driver’s door prior to selecting the tick mark on every screen during the service routine.

Opening and closing the door will actuate the delayed steering wheel lock and allow the service routine to complete.
