Rolling/Fast Idle – (DTCs) P0507, P0171 and/or P0174 – 2013 Ford Fusion & Escape

2013 Fusion, Escape

 

ISSUE:

Some 2013 Escape and Fusion vehicles built on or before 9/28/2012 and equipped with the 2.0L gasoline turbo direction injection (GTDI) engine may exhibit a rolling/fast idle with DTCs P0507, P0171, and/or P0174. This may be due to a missing plug on the left hand side of the intake manifold.

 

ACTION:

Follow the Service Procedure steps to correct the concern.

 

SERVICE PROCEDURE

1. Inspect the left hand side of the intake manifold for a missing plug. Is the plug missing from the intake manifold? (Figure 1)

   1. Yes – proceed to Step 2.
   2. No – this article does not apply. Perform normal diagnostics. Refer to Powertrain Control/Emissions Diagnosis (PC/ED) manual.
2. Install the intake manifold plug using the instruction sheet provided in the kit.
   1. The kit includes the locking ring which typically remains in the intake manifold. Discard the new locking ring in kit. Do not attempt to remove or replace the locking ring as intake manifold damage will occur.
