TSB 15-0082 2.0L GTDI – FACTORY TRAILER TOW PACKAGE – NOT COMPATIBLE WITH LED TRAILER LIGHTING – BUILT ON OR BEFORE 12/1/2013

 

FORD: 2013-2014 Escape

 

This article supersedes TSB 13-1-5 to add a production fix date, update the vehicle model years, Issue Statement, Warranty Causal Part Number, Part List and Service Procedure.

 

ISSUE:

Some 2013-2014 Escape vehicles equipped with a 2.0L Gasoline Turbocharged Direct Injection (GTDI) engine with factory equipped trailer tow package and built on or before 12/1/2013 may experience issues with trailers equipped with light emitting diode (LED) lighting.

 

An updated trailer tow module and jumper harness is available.

 

ACTION:

Follow the Service Procedure steps to correct the condition.

 

SERVICE PROCEDURE

Replace the trailer tow module and install the the jumper harness. Refer to Workshop Manual (WSM), Section 417-01.

WARRANTY STATUS

Eligible Under Provisions Of New Vehicle Limited Warranty Coverage.
Warranty/ESP coverage limits/policies/prior approvals are not altered by a TSB. Warranty/ESP coverage limits are determined by the identified causal part and verified using the OASIS part coverage tool.

  1. I have been problems with the light of the trailer. Had some module changed. It did not make any difference, still does the same thing. I have bought at least $200.00 of changing the light on the trailer. Took back to my dealer they checked out the harness, claim I do not plug it in tight enough.
    Thanks for the information Diode Circuit. My trailer was doing it on one side also.
    My dealer was or should I say really is not sure what it is or how to fix this.
