Service Procedure
1. Pinpoint the location of the roof noise by test driving the vehicle on rough roads or by duplicating the customerโs driving habits.
2. Proceed to the appropriate procedure based on how the vehicle is equipped.
(1). If the vehicle is equipped with a soft top roof, complete Procedure A.
(2). If the vehicle is equipped with a hard top roof, complete Procedure B.
Procedure A: Diagnose Squeaks And/Or Rattles Coming From The Soft Top Roof
1. Inspect the front and middle soft top latches to make sure they are properly secured to the body. Inspect the quarter and rear windows to make sure they are properly secured. Refer to the Digital Ownerโs Manual > Removable Vehicle Components > Removable Soft Top.
2. Did resecuring the soft top assemblies to the vehicle resolve the noise?
(1). Yes – repair is complete. Advise customer on proper soft top operating procedure by having them refer to the Digital Ownerโs Manual > Removable Vehicle Components > Removable Soft Top.
(2). No – proceed to Step 3.
3. Apply Krytoxยฎ grease to the latch hooks and locator pins on both front latches. Refer to Figure 1 for locator pin identification.
Figure 1
4. Did applying Krytoxยฎ grease to the latch hooks and locator pins resolve the noise?
(1). Yes – replace the affected latch assembly. Repair is complete.
(2). No – proceed to Step 5.
5. Apply Krytoxยฎ grease to the header seal where it contacts the soft top roof assembly.
6. Did applying Krytoxยฎ grease to the header seal resolve the noise?
(1). Yes – repair is complete.
(2). No – this article does not apply. Refer to Workshop Manual (WSM), Section 501-18A.
Procedure B: Diagnose Squeaks And/Or Rattles Coming From The Hard Top Roof
1. Inspect the front and middle (if equipped) roof sections to make sure they are properly secured to the vehicle. Refer to the Digital Ownerโs Manual > Removable Vehicle Components > Removable Hard Top.
2. Did resecuring the hard top assemblies to the vehicle resolve the noise?
(1). Yes – repair is complete. Advise customer on proper hard top operating procedures by having them refer to the Digital Ownerโs Manual > Removable Vehicle Components > Removable Hard Top.
(2). No – proceed to Step 3.
3. Identify all suspect latch hooks and locator pins and apply Krytoxยฎ grease to each one, one at a time, to isolate the source of the noise. Refer to Figure 2 for locator pin identification on 5-door vehicles. Refer to Figure 3 for locator pin identification on 3-door vehicles. (Figures 2-3)

Figure 3
4. Did applying Krytoxยฎ grease to the latch hooks and locator pins resolve the noise?
(1). Yes – replace the affected latch and/or locator pin assemblies. Repair is complete.
(2). No – proceed to Step 5.
5. Apply Krytoxยฎ grease to all hard top seals that are suspected of producing the noise.
6. Did applying Krytoxยฎ grease to any of the hard top seals resolve the noise?
(1). Yes – repair is complete.
(2). No – this article does not apply. Refer to Workshop Manual (WSM), Section 501-18B.

- Temp Range: -36C thru 204C: Viscosity 18cSt/100C, 160cSt/40C; Stable in a wide variety of operating conditions/environments
- Nonflammable: Krytox Grease contains only carbon, oxygen & fluorine, (no hydrogen or silicone); Will not burn or support combustion; Passes impact standards with LOX, Nitrogen Tetroxide, Nitric Acid
- Chemically Inert: Resistant to oxygen and inert to most all chemicals; Inert nature allows Krytox Grease to outlast/outperform hydrocarbon products; Chemically insoluble in nearly all solvents
- At operating temps and pressures Krytox Grease is highly resistant to attack by gaseous and liquid oxygen; The preferred choice in oxygen; use and manufacturing industry
- Exposure to significant radiation causes only minor DE polymerization (8% decrease of viscosity) and no formation of solids or sludge or change in appearance

- Keyboard Lube: krytox 205g0 This high viscosity lubricant is optimised to silence keyboard stabilisers and comes in a convenient ml syringe that fits inside your stabiliser.Lubrication Amount Approximately 280 switches or more
- Easy to use: Remove the stabiliser keycaps and surrounding keycaps, use a small amount of lube to lift the stabiliser shaft to make room for the syringe.
- Lube Syringe Works on any Mx-style mechanical keyboard stabiliser where a metal wire is in contact with a plastic housing. Be careful not to use too much as this will result in sluggish stabilisers.
- Syringe and Luer tips: The best way to know exactly how much lubricant you're getting and the most efficient way to dispense EVERY DROP.
- krytox 205g0 Switch Lube Kit Makes a new mechanical keyboard feel "broken in" and switches feel ultra-smooth, eliminating "scratching" noises.
