2013-2014 MKZ – Swap Over Original Gear Shift Module (GSM) If Installing A New Front Control Interface Module (FCIM) – Unable To Perform A Coordinated Reflash

When a replacement FCIM is received for a MKZ, it will likely come as a FCIM/GSM assembly.

For 2013- 2014 MKZs, the GSM will need to be removed from the replacement FCIM assembly and the original GSM swapped over and reused.

Failure to do so could result in the IDS being unable to perform a PCM, SOBDMC, BECM, ABS, TRCM, or GSM reflash as part of a coordinated flash.

If IDS is unable to perform a coordinated flash due to a part number being unrecognized, look at the part number of the GSM in the IDS Log Viewer.

If the GSM prefix starts with a F, the wrong GSM is installed.

The correct GSM (7D443) for a 2013-2014 MKZ should start with a D or E prefix.

Reprogramming emission-related (OBDII) modules on some vehicles manufactured in 1995 and all vehicles manufactured from 1996 to the present
Reprogramming or reconfiguring non-emission-related modules on many vehicles (UBP and MS-CAN not supported)

In addition, module initialization (PATS) functions such as Keycode Erase/Reprogram and PCM Parameter Reset can be done using this application.
