The shift-to-park/dead battery issue is addressed in Ford TSB 17-2219. The repair part numbers for specific year/model are in the TSB. Originally, Ford specified replacing the entire shifter mechanism at substantially higher cost, but now recommends just the microswitch be replaced. At my local dealer, the part was $15.86.
A big advantage of buying the Ford part is that it comes with a “tool” to ease removal without breaking anything additional, and also with a copy of the factory service manual pages describing the replacement in great detail. The console with cup holders is held by clips and pries off very easily. This is an easy DIY fix.
Do you have a part number for the replacement part?
Best bet is to search with your VIN. Or ask the dealer for the latest part number.

You need to have it diagnosed. You may have a bad selector lever assembly.
