2012-2013 Explorer, Taurus, Flex, Edge, MKT, MKS, MKX and Mustang
vehicles equipped with a 3.5L Twin-independent Variable Cam Timing (TiVCT) or 3.7L engine and built on 1/3/2012 and through 7/31/2012 may exhibit an illuminated malfunction indicator lamp (MIL) with diagnostic trouble code (DTC) P1450.
SERVICE PROCEDURE
- Using the Ford Integrated Diagnostic System (IDS) or equivalent Scan Tool, retrieve continuous memory DTCs. Is DTC P1450 present?
- Yes – proceed to Step 2.
- No – this article does not apply. Refer to the Powertrain Control/Emission Diagnosis (PC/ED) manual for normal diagnosis.
- Replace the Evaporative Emission Canister Purge Valve.
