Summary
Some 2019 F-150 Limited vehicles built on or before 1-Jun-2019 equipped with a 3.5L EcoBoost high output engine may exhibit a lack of power and/or misfire condition with or without diagnostic trouble code (DTC) P0300 through P0306. This may be due to the internal components of the muffler assembled improperly. To correct the condition, follow the Service Procedure steps to replace the muffler.

Issue: Some 2019 F-150 vehicles with the Limited series package built on or before 1-Jun-2019 equipped with a 3.5L EcoBoost high output engine may exhibit a lack of power and/or misfire condition with or without diagnostic trouble code (DTC) P0300 through P0306. This may be due to the internal components of the muffler assembled improperly. To correct the condition, follow the Service Procedure steps to replace the muffler.
Action: Follow the Service Procedure to correct the condition for vehicles that meet all of the following criteria:
- 2019 F-150
- Limited series
- Built on or before 1-Jun-2019
- 5L EcoBoost high output
- Lacks power and/or misfire condition
- May have DTCs P0300 through P0306 stored in the powertrain control module (PCM)

Service Procedure
- Disconnect the inlet side of the muffler. Refer to Workshop Manual (WSM), Section 309-00.
- Insert a tape measure into the inlet side of the muffler assembly until it bottoms out. (Figures 1-2) Is the measurement at the end of the tube 584 mm (23 inches) or less?
(1). Yes – proceed to Step 3.
(2). No – this article does not apply. Refer to WSM Section 309-00 for normal diagnostics.
