Issue: Some 2017 F-Super Duty vehicles equipped with a 6.7L diesel engine built on or before 24-Oct-2017 may exhibit an inoperative block heater. This can also result in tripping an electrical breaker or a ground fault circuit interrupter (GFCI) outlet. This may be due to water intrusion into the block heater power cord inline connector.
Action: Follow the Service Procedure steps to correct the condition.

Service Procedure
1. Inspect the block heater power cable inline connector for signs of water intrusion. The connector is located directly behind the right side bumper and can be accessed from under the vehicle. (Figure 1)

2. Is there evidence of water inside the connector?
(1). Yes – proceed to Step 3.
(2). No – this article does not apply. Refer to Workshop Manual (WSM), Section 303-03C for normal diagnostics.
3. Remove the right front fender splash shield. Refer to WSM, Section 501-02.
4. Replace the block heater power cable. Inspect the new block heater power cable for electrical grease within the inline connector. Is there electrical grease present? (Figures 2 – 3)
(1). Yes – proceed to Step 6.
(2). No – proceed to Step 5.

5. Fill the inline connector of the new power cable with Motorcraft Electrical Grease or equivalent.
6. Install the new block heater power cable; following the routing of the old power cable.
7. To install the right front fender splash shield, reverse the removal procedure.
