Issue: Some 2018 Expedition/F-150/Mustang
/Navigator vehicles equipped with a 10R80 automatic transmission and built on or before 30-Nov-2017 may exhibit an illuminated malfunction indicator lamp (MIL) with diagnostic trouble code (DTC) P0721 in the powertrain control module (PCM) or transmission control module (TCM).
Action: Follow the Service Procedure steps to correct the condition.

Service Procedure
1. Check the vehicle build date. Was the vehicle built on or before 30-Nov-2017?
(1). Yes – proceed to Step 2.
(2). No – this article does not apply. Refer to the Powertrain Controls/Emissions Diagnosis (PC/ED) Manual for normal diagnostics.
2. Connect the Ford Integrated Diagnostic System (IDS) or Ford Diagnosis and Repair System (FDRS) software to the data link connector (DLC). Check for DTCs. Is P0721 stored in the PCM or TCM?
(1). Yes – proceed to Step 3.
(2). No – this article does not apply. Refer to the PC/ED Manual for normal diagnostics.
3. Replace the output shaft speed (OSS) sensor. Refer to Workshop Manual (WSM), Section 307-01.
