ISSUE:
Some 2017 Continental vehicles may exhibit a ratcheting type noise when using the floor console top forward media door.
ACTION:
Follow the Service Procedure steps to correct the condition.
SERVICE PROCEDURE
- Does the floor console top forward media door exhibit a ratcheting type noise when it is being used?
- Yes – proceed to Step 2.
- No – this article does not apply. Refer to Workshop Manual (WSM), Section 501-12.
- Access the rear of the floor console and remove the floor console rear trim panel. Refer to WSM, Section 501-12.
- Position the left front seat to the full rearward position and move the seat back to the recline position.
- Raise the floor console center armrest lid.
- Release the left side floor console side trim panel clips and remove the panel. Refer to WSM, Section 501-12.
- The wiring does not need to be disconnected.
- Open the front media door to gain access to the spring attachment guide. Position the spring attachment guide over the top of the console teeth row. (Figure 1)
