SSM 46988 – 2016-2017 F-650/750 Medium Duty Trucks – Air Brake Compressor Oil Leak Diagnosis – Built On Or Before 3-Jul-2017

2016-2017 F-650/750 Medium Duty trucks built on or before 03-JUL-2017 equipped with air brakes, the air brake compressor may have the presence of grease around the exterior end cover.

The grease is used during the assembly process of the air brake compressor and can be misdiagnosed as an oil leak.

Air brake compressor replacement is not required when grease is present with no oil leaks.

If a leak is suspect at the air brake outlet pipe, refer to Workshop Manual (WSM) Section, 206-08 for updated torque procedure and torque specifications.
