This article supersedes TSB 12-11-13 to update the vehicle model years and add a production fix date.
ISSUE:
Some 2010-2013 Transit Connect vehicles built on or before 11/17/2012 may exhibit looseness, distortion, or damage to the lamp socket where the lamp and socket contact for the front turn signal.
ACTION:
Follow Service Procedure Steps to correct the condition.
SERVICE PROCEDURE
- Remove the front turn signal lamp. Refer to Workshop Manual (WSM), Section 417-01.
- Inspect the front turn signal lamp socket, located inside the front headlamp assembly, for looseness, distortion or damage at the lamp-to-socket location insert. Is the lamp-to-socket loose or damaged?
- Yes – proceed to Step 3.
- No – this article does not apply. Refer to WSM, Section 417-01 for normal diagnostics.
- Check the electrical contact ring inside the headlamp assembly. Is it loose/dislodged from the headlamp, preventing electrical contact?
- No – replace the front turn signal socket and lamp. Refer to WSM, Section 417-01.
- Yes – proceed to Step 4.
- Remove headlamp assembly. Refer to WSM, Section 417-01.
- Remove headlamp bulb and position aside. Refer to WSM, Section 417-01.
- Pull contact ring out through headlamp access hole. (Figure 1)

- Install the electrical terminals into the new contact ring.
- Guide the contact ring back into the headlamp assembly, snap the contact ring into the hole of the turn signal. (Figure 7)

- Install a new turn signal socket and lamp. Refer to WSM, Section 417-01.
- Install headlamp assembly. Refer to WSM, Section 417-01.
