ISSUE:
Some 2015-2016 F-150 vehicles built on or before 5/1/2016, may exhibit inoperative windshield washer jets when the ambient temperature is below 0 °C (32 °F).
ACTION:
Follow the Service Procedure steps to correct the condition.
SERVICE PROCEDURE
- Is the customer using the correct type of washer solvent for the temperature conditions present?
- Yes – proceed to Step 2.
- No – this article does not apply. Inform the customer of the correct type of washer solvent to use for the temperature conditions present.
- Lift up the left and right cowl panel grilles. Refer to Workshop Manual (WSM), Section 501-02.
- It is not necessary to remove the wiper arms.
- Disconnect and remove the washer hose from the washer jets located in the left and right cowl panel grilles.
- Disconnect the washer hose from the left washer jet by gently twisting the lock ring of the C-lock coupler until it has rotated approximately 90 degrees. Refer to WSM, Section 501-16.
- Remove the clip from the cowl panel. (Figure 1)

- Disconnect the washer hose from the C-lock coupler at the battery junction box (BJB). (Figure 2)

- Connect the new washer hose to the C-lock coupler at the BJB. (Figure 2)
- Connect the clip of the new hose to the cowl panel. (Figure 1)
- Connect the washer hose to the left and right hand cowl trim panels and washer jets.
- Reconnect the C-lock coupler to the left washer jet.
- Reinstall the right and left cowl panel grilles. Refer to WSM, Section 501-02.
