AFFECTED VEHICLES
| Vehicle | Model Year | Assembly Plant | Build Dates |
| F650-F750 | 2023-2024 | Ohio | July 13, 2022 through December 8, 2023 |
US population of affected vehicles: 18,244. Affected vehicles are identified in OASIS and FSA VIN Lists.
REASON FOR THIS SAFETY RECALL
In some of the affected vehicles, when a light to moderate force is applied, the parking brake handle may disengage without having to press the release button. If the parking brake is unintentionally disengaged, it will not hold the vehicle in a stationary position when parked on a graded surface, increasing the risk of crash or injury.
SERVICE ACTION
DO NOT DEMONSTRATE OR DELIVER any new in-stock vehicles involved in this recall. A complete Dealer Bulletin will be provided to dealers in the 2nd Quarter, 2024, when it is anticipated that parts ordering information and repair instructions will be available to support this safety recall. For new vehicle storage guidelines, refer to EFC13033, Storage Guidelines for New Vehicles.
IMPORTANT: Dealers should open a Repair Order (RO) only when a full dealer bulletin is published. Opening an RO against an Awareness or Advance Notice will result in warranty rejections against a recall.
NOTE: For vehicles presented that are exhibiting the concern identified for this Program, and no longer have applicable warranty coverage, contact the SSSC for further direction.
CUSTOMER NOTIFICATION
Owners of record will be notified via first-class mail after repair instructions and parts ordering information have been provided to dealers.
PLEASE NOTE:
Federal law requires dealers to complete this recall service before a new vehicle is delivered to the buyer or lessee. Violation of this requirement by a dealer could result in a civil penalty of up to $27,168 per vehicle. Correct all vehicles in your new vehicle inventory prior to delivery.
DEALER-OPERATED RENTAL VEHICLES
The Fixing America’s Surface Transportation (FAST) Act law effective June 2016 prohibits a rental company from selling, renting or leasing vehicles subject to a safety or compliance recall. Please consult your legal counsel for legal advice.

Motor Company (Ford
) Recall No. 24S09 Chronology
CERTAIN 2023-2024 MODEL YEAR FORD F-650 AND F-750 VEHICLES – PARKINGBRAKE HANDLE DISENGAGES
Date of Submission: February 23, 2024
Chronology of Defect / Noncompliance Determination
Provide the chronology of events leading up to the defect decision or test data for the noncompliance decision.
November 2023 – January 2024
On November 21, 2023, Ford
’s Critical Concern Review Group (CCRG) opened an investigation into reports of parking brake disengagement on 2023-2024 model year F-650 and F-750 vehicles. Field reports indicated that fleet vehicles were experiencing disengagement of the parking brake handle with minimal downward pressure without pressing the release button. On November 22, 2023, as part of the CCRG investigation, Ford
personnel visited a dealer with vehicles exhibiting parking brake disengagement to retrieve parts for inspection.
CCRG reviewed the design of the parking brake handle assembly. The floor-mounted mechanical parking brake handle assembly in the F-650/F-750 vehicles has a tube in a welded mounting bracket containing a pin used to engage a secondary J-hook via the actuation of an occupant release button. As the button is depressed, a control rod moves the J-hook in and out of position by pulling the handle up or down to engage/disengage the parking brake. Dimensional variation of either the control rod and/or the J-hook engagement pin will prevent proper locking function.
The CCRG investigation coordinated shipment of suspect parking brake handle assemblies to Ford
Central Laboratory and the supplier for analysis. Metrology analysis determined that the welded bracket location and control rod dimensions were out of specification. Additionally, the supplier conducted analyses to determine the force required to disengage the parking brake handle under varying conditions.
During the week of January 22, 2024, the CCRG team contacted upfitters and dealerships of the F-650/F750 vehicles to learn more about detection and frequency of the concern. The team confirmed that the parking brake disengaged with downward pressure without pressing the release lever.
As of February 02, 2024, Ford
is aware of 87 warranty reports, 31 field reports, and one customer service report, corresponding to 86 vehicles received from May 16, 2023, to January 22, 2024, related to this concern.
On February 16, 2024, Ford
’s Field Review Committee reviewed the concern and approved a field action.
Ford
is not aware of any reports of accident or injury related to this condition.
