Summary
Some 2021-2022 Bronco vehicles built on or before 31-Mar-2022 and equipped with a factory hard top roof may have an older style latch decal installed that is no longer available to order. Replacement hard top roof panels will come with a newer style latch decal. This will create an appearance mismatch condition with the original roof panels that will still have the older style decals installed. To correct this condition, follow the Service Procedure to install newer style latch decals on all original hard top roof panels.

Issue: Some 2021-2022 Bronco vehicles built on or before 31-Mar-2022 and equipped with a factory hard top roof may have an older style latch decal installed that is no longer available to order. Replacement hard top roof panels will come with a newer style latch decal. This will create an appearance mismatch condition with the original roof panels that will still have the older style decals installed. To correct this condition, follow the Service Procedure to install newer style latch decals on all original hard top roof panels.
Action: Follow the Service Procedure to correct the condition on vehicles that meet all of the following criteria:
- 2021-2022 Bronco

- Vehicle had a hard top roof panel(s) replaced and the latch decals on the new roof panel(s) does not match the latch decals from the original roof panel(s)

Service Procedure
1. Do the vehicle’s new roof panel(s) have latch decals that do not match the original roof panel(s)? Refer to Figure 1 for an image of the new latch decal (Figure 1, Callout 1) and an image of the old latch decal (Figure 1, Callout 2). Refer to Figures 2-3 for latch decal locations.
(1). Yes – proceed to Step 2.
(2). No – this article does not apply.

2. Remove the affected roof panels and place them upside down on a flat clean work surface. Refer to the Workshop Manual (WSM), Section 501-18B.
3. Remove the affected hard top flip latches and/or hard top turn handles. Refer to the WSM, Section 501-18B.
4. For vehicles equipped with a headliner, carefully peel back the edges of the headliner(s) located around the decals to gain access to the latch decal(s). If the headliner adhesive separates from the headliner, the headliner must be replaced.
5. Use a plastic scraper and fingers to remove all older style latch decal(s). Make sure the older latch decal(s) are completely removed from the roof panel component(s).
6. Install the new style latch decal(s). The new latch decals are a peel and stick design.
7. When reusing the existing headliner(s), use gloves and a sponge to apply 3M™ 4298UV Adhesion Promoter on the areas where the headliner will reattach to the bare roof and/or latch decal(s). Make sure to not extend the adhesion promoter outside of the contact area on the latch decal(s).
8. Use firm pressure to secure the headliner back into place on top of the latch decals.
9. Reinstall the affected hard top flip latches and/or hard top turn handles. Refer to the WSM, Section 501-18B.
10. Reinstall the affected roof panels back onto the vehicle. Refer to the WSM, Section 501-18B.
