Summary
Some 2022 Explorer vehicles equipped with a 3.3L full hybrid electric vehicle (FHEV) engine and built on 12-Jul-2022 and through 31-Oct-2022 may exhibit a coolant leak at the high voltage (HV) battery coolant cooler outlet hose. This may be due to the HV battery coolant cooler outlet hose contacting the bottom pulley of the accessory drive belt tensioner. To correct the condition, follow the Service Procedure to replace the damaged hose and install a cable tie.

Issue: Some 2022 Explorer vehicles built on 12-Jul-2022 and through 31-Oct-2022 and equipped with a 3.3L full hybrid electric vehicle (FHEV) engine may exhibit a coolant leak at the high voltage (HV) battery coolant cooler outlet hose. This may be due to the HV battery coolant cooler outlet hose contacting the bottom pulley of the accessory drive belt tensioner. To correct the condition, follow the Service Procedure to replace the damaged hose and install a cable tie.
Action: Follow the Service Procedure to correct the condition on vehicles that meet all of the following criteria:
- 2022 Explorer
- Built on 12-Jul-2022 and through 31-Oct-2022
- 3.3L FHEV engine
- Coolant leak from the HV battery coolant cooler outlet hose

Service Procedure
1. Remove the cooling module. Refer to Workshop Manual (WSM), Section 303-03D.
2. Replace the HV battery coolant cooler outlet hose.
3. Secure the HV battery coolant cooler outlet hose to the HV battery coolant pump outlet hose using a cable tie to keep hose away from the bottom pulley of the accessory drive belt tensioner. (Figures 1-2)

4. Reassemble the vehicle.
5. Fill and bleed the cooling system. Refer to WSM, Section 303-03D.
