Water Leak at A-pillars or Windshield Seal – 2015 Ford F-150

WATER LEAK AT A-PILLAR OR AROUND WINDSHIELD – BUILT ON OR BEFORE 1/13/2015

 

FORD:

2015 F-150

 

ISSUE:

Some 2015 F-150 vehicles built on or before 1/13/2015 may exhibit a water leak at the A-pillars or the windshield seal.

 

ACTION:

Follow the Service Procedure steps to correct the condition.

 

SERVICE PROCEDURE

1. Does the vehicle exhibit water entry at either A-pillar roof panel area?
   1. Yes – proceed to Step 2.
   2. No – proceed to Step 8.
2. Is a crack present in the ditch sealer area at the top of the A-pillars?
   1. Yes – proceed to Step 3.
   2. No – proceed to Step 4.
3. Use Motorcraft Seam Sealer or equivalent to repair.
   1. Paint the repaired area if the Motorcraft Seam Sealer is visible.
4. Is the vehicle equipped with a roof opening panel?
   1. Yes – proceed to Step 5.
   2. No – proceed to Step 8.
5. Remove the A-pillar trim panel. Refer to Workshop Manual (WSM), Section 501-05.
6. Is the water drain tube properly connected? Refer to WSM, Section 501-17.
   1. Yes – proceed to Step 7.
   2. No – reconnect the water drain tube and proceed to Step 7.
7. Reinstall the A-pillar trim panel. Refer to WSM, Section 501-05.
8. Does water enter around the fixed glass seal?
   1. Yes – proceed to Step 9.
   2. No – repair is complete.
9. Is there a noticeable gap in the fixed glass seal?
   1. Yes – replace the fixed glass. Refer to WSM, Section 501-11.
   2. No – scuff the existing fixed glass seal in the location of the water entry and use Motorcraft Seam Sealer or equivalent to seal the leak.
