and 2011-2016 F-Super Duty – Multifunction Indicator Lamp (MIL) On Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) P1636
2011-2015 F-150, Expedition, Navigator, Mustang
and 2011-2016 F-Super Duty vehicles can exhibit a MIL illuminated with DTC P1636 (Inductive Signature Chip Communication Error) present in the PCM or TCM.
If DTC P1636 is associated with any other low voltage codes in any other modules or the Freeze Frame data confirms that the Diagnostic Trouble Code set when Vpwr is below 10 Volts then clear DTCs and check battery state of charge, proper operation of the charging system,and verify there is no excessive battery drain on the system.
If DTC P1636 repeats alone, perform diagnostics referenced in workshop manual section 307-01.
