2010-2013 Fusion Hybrid, 2010-2011 Milan Hybrid, 2011-2012 MKZ Hybrid – Change To Recreational Towing Procedure To Reduce Battery Drain
Some 2010-2013 Fusion Hybrid, 2010-2011 Milan Hybrid, and 2011-2012 MKZ Hybrid vehicles can exhibit a battery drain while being flat towed when following the owner’s manual instructions that specify the key remain in the accessory position.
This information was changed in the 2014 model year Fusion Hybrid owner’s manual to indicate the ignition can be shut off and does not have to be left in the accessory position once placed in Neutral.
Print off and provide to the customer the updated Recreational Towing instructions in the Towing section of the 2014 Fusion Hybrid owner’s manual.
The key does not have to be left in the accessory position after the transmission is placed in neutral.
