ISSUE:
Some 2013 Explorer vehicles built on 3/1/2013 and through 5/10/2013 may exhibit a crank/no start condition which may be intermittent.
This may be caused by fuel pump electrical connection concerns.
ACTION:
Follow Service Procedure Steps to correct condition.
SERVICE PROCEDURE
- Inspect C3053, terminals A and H for a loose or damaged condition. Refer to Wiring Diagram, Section 150-1. Are the terminals loose or damaged?
- No – this article does not apply. Refer to Powertrain Control/Emissions Diagnostic (PC/ED) manual for normal diagnosis.
- Yes – proceed to Step 2.
- Lower the fuel tank, Refer to Workshop Manual, Section 310-01.
- Replace both connectors using the service pigtails.
- Install fuel tank. Refer to WSM, Section 310-01.
