This article supersedes TSB 12-7-9 to update the production fix date and Issue Statement.
ISSUE:
Some 2010 F-150 vehicles equipped with 4.6L and 5.4L engine, 2011-2012 F-150 vehicles equipped with 5.0L engine, 2010-2011 Ranger, 2010-2012 F-Super Duty vehicles equipped with a 5.4L, 6.2L, or 6.8L engine, 2010-2012 Expedition, Navigator and Econoline (excluding Ambulance Package) vehicles built on or before 12/31/2012 may exhibit diagnostic trouble code (DTC) P2270 or P2272.
ACTION:
Follow the Service Procedure steps to correct the condition
SERVICE PROCEDURE
- Using the Ford Integrated Diagnostic System (IDS) scan tool or equivalent, retrieve all continuous memory DTC (CMDTC). Are DTC P2270 or P2272 present?
- Yes – proceed to Step 2.
- No – this article does not apply. Refer to the Powertrain Control/Emission Diagnosis (PC/ED) manual for normal diagnosis.
- Replace only the affected catalyst monitor sensor as indicated by the DTC observed P2270 – Bank 1 or P2272 – Bank 2. Refer to Workshop Manual (WSM), Section 303-14.
