Raw Fuel-Type Odor Near the Intake Manifold – 2014 Ford & Lincoln

FORD:	2014 Explorer, Flex, Taurus
LINCOLN:	2014 MKS, MKT

ISSUE:

Some 2014 Explorer, Flex, MKT, MKS, and Taurus vehicles equipped with a 3.5L Gasoline Turbocharged Direct Injection (GTDI) engine and built on or before 2/20/2014 may exhibit a raw fuel-type odor that is most noticeable near the intake manifold.

ACTION:

Follow the Service Procedure steps to correct the condition.

SERVICE PROCEDURE

1. Remove the intake manifold. Refer to Workshop Manual (WSM), Section 303-01.
2. Replace the high-pressure fuel tube. Refer to WSM, Section 303-04.
   1. It is not necessary to remove the fuel injection pump to perform this procedure.
3. Install the intake manifold. Refer to WSM, Section 303-01.
