Issue: Some 2020 Escape/Corsair vehicles may exhibit water dripping on or near the driver’s foot while driving with the air conditioning (A/C) on. This may be due to the climate control housing. To correct the condition, follow the Service Procedure to install a drain extension.
Action: Follow the Service Procedure steps to correct the condition on vehicle that meet all of the following criteria:
- 2020 Escape/Corsair
- Water dripping on or near the driver’s foot while driving with the A/C on
Parts
| Part Number | Description | Quantity |
| Obtain Locally | High Temperature Heater Hose | As Needed |
| Obtain Locally | Baling Wire | As Needed |
Service Procedure
- Remove the underbody shield. Refer to Workshop Manual (WSM), Section 309-00. (Figure 1)
Figure 1

- Is the vehicle equipped with all-wheel drive (AWD)?
(1). Yes – proceed to Step 3.
(2). No – proceed to Step 5.
- Remove the two stamped nuts and remove the heat shield located under the driveshaft center bearing support. Refer to WSM, Section 205-01. (Figure 2)
Figure 2

- Remove the 2 center bearing support nuts and position the driveshaft downwards. Refer to WSM, Section 205-01. (Figure 3)
(1). Tighten to 55 Nm (41 lb.ft).
Figure 3

- Remove the 2 catalytic converter support bracket bolts and position downwards. Refer to WSM, Section 309-00. (Figure 4)
(1). Tighten to 25 Nm (18 lb.ft).
Figure 4

- Remove the heat shield fasteners. (Figure 5)
(1). Tighten to 2.5 Nm (22 lb.in.)
Figure 5

- Slide the heat shield toward the rear of the vehicle until access to the climate control housing drain is available.
- Obtain a 16 mm (5/8 in.) high temperature heater hose, such as a Gates® high temperature heater hose part number H153 or equivalent.
- Cut a piece of hose 25 mm (1 in.) in length.
- Use a 1/16 inch drill bit and drill a hole through both sides of the high temperature hose on one end. Drill the hole approximately 4-5 mm (3/16 in.) from one end of the hose. (Figure 6)
Figure 6

- Thread baling wire or equivalent through both holes.
- Crimp the hose end and twist the wire to lock the hose in a crimped position. (Figure 7)
Figure 7

- Install the open end of the high temperature hose to the A/C drain.
- Position the heat shield approximately 25 mm (1 in.) away in the area closest to the climate control housing drain. This is to provide further clearance between the modified climate control housing drain and the heat shield. (Figure 8)
Figure 8

- To install, reverse the removal procedure.

- OPTIMAL REFRIGERANT FOR R1234YF: Ensure proper maintenance of your automotive AC system with ZeroR Genuine R-1234yf refrigerant, specifically designed for R1234YF systems. Always verify compatibility to avoid damage to your vehicle’s AC components
- GREENER AC PERFORMANCE: ZeroR uses HFO-R1234YF refrigerant, a greener alternative to older car A/C refrigerants, with a lower global warming potential (GWP). It is an ideal choice for conscious car owners, while ensuring reliable AC performance
- RELIABLE REFRIGERANT ACCURACY: Get the precise amount of refrigerant you need with each 8-oz can. The car air conditioner refrigerant is measured by weight, not volume, ensuring accuracy. Most systems require 2-3 cans, making it easy to maintain your AC system
- NO MISTAKE TOOL COMPATIBILITY: ZeroR 1234 yf refrigerant cans feature a reverse-thread design, preventing accidental connections with incompatible tools. Simply connect your compatible tool by turning counterclockwise for a safe and secure refilling process
- STAY COMPLIANT WITH ZEROR: Each HFO-1234yf refrigerant can comes with a ZeroR service sticker, helping you label your vehicle’s AC system for future reference. Keep your system compliant with regulations and avoid confusion in future maintenance or service sessions
- OEM-Compatible R1234yf Refrigerant. Designed for vehicles manufactured after 2015 that require R1234yf refrigerant. Compatible with most factory A/C systems.
- 8 oz Recharge Can for Automotive Use. Lightweight 8 oz can is perfect for quick recharges. Ideal for cars, SUVs, and light trucks using R1234yf.
- Clean Cooling with Low GWP Formula. Environmentally friendly refrigerant with low global warming potential. A modern alternative to R-134a and other high-GWP gases.
- Compliant with SAE J2844 Standards. Meets professional standards for safety and performance. Trusted by mechanics and DIYers alike.
- Easy to Use – DIY or Professional. Use with standard R-1234yf recharge kits. Suitable for home garages, auto shops, and mobile mechanics.
- PERFORMANCE BOOSTER CHARGE KIT - ZeroR is a performance booster for use with R1234YF AC systems. You can use as many cans in your system as you wish, while being sure not to overfill the system with the included can tap with gauge.
- KIT CONTENTS - The can tap is 24 in length with a gauge metered for R1234YF systems. Standard R1234YF can taps will not work on ZeroR branded R1234YF cans, because our cans have a unique thread. 3 cans of ZeroR Permafrost in 4oz cans.
- NOT A Full Refrigerant - This product is a support fluid performance booster. It is a combination of two ZeroR products in one. The first part removes moisture (moisture can cause damage and reduced performance in the system), and the second part reduces friction (friction can reduce refrigerant flow and cause compressor damage)
- 24 in Charging Hose with Can Tap & Gauge - New longer 24 inch connection hose accomodates those harder to reach low side ports that were previously difficult to reach with a shorter 12 inch hose.
- 10 MINUTE INSTALL - Easy instructions are included and will take as little as 10 minutes to complete.
- READY-TO-USE RECHARGE KIT: This all-in-one AC refrigerant recharge kit includes everything you need: 1 can of R1234YF refrigerant and a 24" can tap with gauge. Whether you’re a DIYer or a professional, this kit ensures your AC system stays cool and smooth
- ACCESS HARD-TO-REACH PORTS: The 24-inch heavy-duty brass can tap with a gauge, making refilling your AC system easier. The R1234yf refrigerant kit’s extended hose reaches tight, hard-to-access low-side ports that shorter hoses can't, ensuring a hassle-free process
- ENSURE PEAK AC EFFICIENCY: This kit includes 1 AC recharge can of authentic HFO-R1234YF refrigerant, sourced from authorized suppliers in the USA. Designed for use in R1234YF systems, this refrigerant ensures your vehicle's AC operates at peak efficiency
- ERROR-FREE TOOL CONNECTIONS: The R1234yf refrigerant can tap features a reverse-thread design, ensuring only compatible tools connect to the R1234YF can. This prevents errors, making it safe to connect the refrigerant and perform without risk of incompatibility
- PRECISE REFRIGERANT EVERY TIME: Each refrigerant R-1234yf can contains 8oz of refrigerant, measured by weight for accuracy. Simply use the right amount every time. Most systems require 2-3 cans, and this kit provides everything for a quick, effective recharge
