PROGRAM TERMS

This program covers vehicles registered in California or states that have adopted California’s emission warranty rules.  California emissions warranty coverage is extended for the parts listed in Attachment V for 7 years of service or 70,000 miles from the warranty start date of the vehicle, whichever occurs first.  Coverage is automatically transferred to subsequent owners.

REASON FOR PROVIDING EXTENDED WARRANTY COVERAGE

In all of the affected vehicles, the original Warranty Guide contains an incorrect parts list for the Long Term Defects Coverage under the California Emissions Warranty.  In some cases, the list of parts was over-inclusive.  For affected vehicles already sold with an over-inclusive list of parts, Ford will honor the Long Term Defects Coverage under the California emissions warranty for the entire list of parts.

Note:  This Customer Satisfaction Program 18M02 is related to Special Field Action 18L02, which is being released at the same time.  Customer Satisfaction Program 18M02 addresses the warranty extension, while Special Field Action 18L02 addresses customer notification.

 

SERVICE ACTION

Before delivering any of the vehicles involved in this program, dealers are to perform the following:

• Stock Vehicles: For affected vehicles that are unsold, dealers are to install Attachment IV: the correct 2017 Model Year Ford, Lincoln, Ford Hybrid, or Lincoln Hybrid Warranty Addendum parts list for the Long Term Defects Coverage under the California Emissions Warranty, in their stock vehicles and leave the original supplement.  This service action will remedy and close both 18M02 and 18L02 programs.
• Sold Vehicles: Dealer action is NOT required for sold vehicles, unless a vehicle meeting the coverage criteria (including the state of registration) requires service, dealers are to search the parts list in Attachment V to confirm any extended warranty coverage.  This service must be performed at no charge to the vehicle owner.

 

OWNER NOTIFICATION MAILING SCHEDULE

Owner Letters will not be mailed for this program.

OASIS will be activated on June 13, 2018.

 

FSA VIN LISTS ACTIVATION  

FSA VIN Lists will not be activated for this service action.

 

SOLD VEHICLES

No action is required at this time, if an affected vehicle requires service; dealers are to search the parts list in Attachment V to confirm any extended warranty coverage.

 

STOCK VEHICLES

• Correct all affected units in your new vehicle inventory before delivery.
• Use OASIS to identify any affected vehicles in your used vehicle inventory.

 

TITLE BRANDED / SALVAGED VEHICLES

Title branded, salvaged vehicles and vehicles with cancelled warranty coverage are eligible for this program unless emission coverage is explicitly cancelled, as indicated by one of the following OASIS Warranty Cancellation Messages only:

• SCRAPPED UNIT – ALL WARRANTY CANCELLED – TOTAL INCLUDING EMISSIONS
• ALL WARRANTY CANCELLED INCLUDING EMISSIONS

 

OWNER REFUNDS

Refunds are not approved for this program.

 

RENTAL VEHICLES   

The use of rental vehicles is not approved for this program.

 

ADDITIONAL REPAIR (LABOR TIME AND/OR PARTS)

Additional repairs identified as necessary to complete the FSA should be managed as follows:

• For related damage and access time requirements, refer to the Warranty and Policy Manual – Section 6 – Ford/Lincoln Program Policies – Field Service Actions (FSA) – Related Damage.
• For vehicles within new vehicle bumper-to-bumper warranty coverage, no SSSC approval is required.
  • Ford vehicles – 3 years or 36,000 miles o Lincoln vehicles – 4 years or 50,000 miles
• For vehicles outside new vehicle bumper-to-bumper warranty coverage, submit an Approval Request to the SSSC Web Contact Site prior to completing the repair.

 

CLAIMS PREPARATION AND SUBMISSION

• Enter claims using Dealer Management System (DMS) or One Warranty Solution (OWS) online.
  • When entering claims, select claim type 31: Field Service Action. The FSA number 18M02 is the sub code.
  • For additional claims preparation and submission information, refer to the Recall and Customer Satisfaction Program (CSP) Repairs in the OWS User Guide.
• Additional labor and/or parts must be claimed as related damage on a separate repair line from the FSA. IMPORTANT: Click the radio button on the Related Damage Indicator.
